2016 Newcastle Writers Festival

Australia’s second oldest city is once again preparing to welcome a diverse and high-profile group of novelists, poets and media personalities for the city’s fourth Newcastle Writers Festival. Running from Friday April 1 to Sunday April 3 the festival promises to be a full program of literary excellence and great entertainment.


Since its inception, the event has developed a real momentum, starring on the annual calendar of many high-profile writers.


This year those include The Natural Way of Things author Charlotte Wood in Conversation with Caroline Baum, broadcaster Stan Grant, radio personality Richard Glover, Olympian Leisel Jones, TV host and journalist Kerry O’Brien and author of The Anti-Cool Girl, Rosie Waterland.


The Newcastle Writers Festival, supported by Arts NSW and Newcastle City Council among others, is committed to promoting wide participation and accessibility and approximately two thirds of its events are free of charge.
